What About Insurance? We strongly advise purchasing comprehensive Medical/Travel Insurance for your trip. For our age group, it's crucial to secure Primary Emergency Medical Insurance with a minimum coverage of $200,000 USD, including emergency evacuation and repatriation. We also recommend an all-inclusive plan that covers trip cancellation and interruption. Many insurance companies offer more favorable terms for pre-existing conditions if you purchase their policy shortly after making your initial trip deposit. If you're unsure about total trip costs due to pending arrangements like airfare, don't delay; simply contact your chosen insurance provider to increase your coverage amount later as needed.

Is Airfare Included? (copy)Airfare is not included. We suggest that your use Google Flights, Hopper, or another aggregators to find the best airfare. Remember, we are only discussing searching for flights at this point, not the actual booking. We suggest using Google Flights, Hopper, Kayak, and Skyscanner to compare and track flights. Before deciding on a flight, it's a good idea to check options on at least two of these search engines to ensure you've seen all possible options. Do not buy the cheapest airfare unless you are willing to forfeit that money to the airline if your plans change. (Those fares are usually non-refundable, or changeable). While the preceding suggested search tools are convenient, we don't recommend booking flights through them. They often lead to third-party websites, which can cause issues if you need to make changes or cancel your booking. In such cases, the airline won't be able to help you directly. Our advice is to use these tools to search for flights but make your actual reservation on the airline's website.

Things to Know Before You GoPlease note that hot water shortages, low water pressure, and power outages can occur in Southern Africa. We appreciate your patience and understanding that these occurrences are outside of our control. A/C is not generally available in the accommodations. Really, it isn't needed as evenings tend to cool down. Floor or ceiling fans are usually available. Winter nights can be cold, and most lodges and hotels do not have insulation or central heating. If you require additional blankets or a hot water bottle, you can request them through reception. Internal flights: the planes used to fly into Delta are small, and weight restrictions are mandatory. For this reason, luggage restrictions are 15kg per person for checked-in luggage and 5kg for hand luggage, for a maximum of 20kg per person. The airline also requires the weight of each passenger. Rest assured, your CEO will collect this information from you privately at the beginning of the trip, ensuring your comfort and safety during the flight.
-

What Kind of Currency Do I Need?In Botswana, you pay with Pula (BWP). In Zimbabwe you can pay with either the South African Rand (ZAR), or USD. We strongly advise that you bring ZAR or USD from your home country or exchange money before the start of the tour, to avoid delays on tour. Please note that due to past problems with forgery, $US notes that are older than year 2006 are not accepted in Africa. Large bills ($US 50, $US 100 etc.) can be difficult to change in some places, but will gain you the best exchange rate. Please do not bring Traveler's checks to Africa. They are difficult if not impossible to exchange in many places. The Visa/Plus system cards are the most widely accepted debit cards/credit cards. It is harder to find machines for MasterCard/Cirrus cards. We highly recommend that if you hold a MasterCard, you obtain a Visa card prior to departure and travel with both. This is also useful should something unforeseen happen to one of your cards during your travels. While there are many ATMs in the major centers, there are no guarantees that your credit or debit cards will actually work in Africa. Check with your bank. Credit cards can be used in major cities and towns ONLY, but please do not rely on them as a method of payment because they are generally not widely accepted. You should be aware that a fee of 5%- 10% usually applies to purchase products or services on a credit card. The majority of the optional activities can also be paid for by credit card. Please note that in many areas, there may be occasional power outages, where there will be no electricity for hours at a time. In addition, ATMs outside of larger centers often run out of cash or can be out of order unexpectedly. These factors could affect your ability to access money from ATMs. As such, please do not rely on credit or debit cards as your only source of money. A combination of foreign currency and debit/credit cards for cash advances is best. Always take more rather than less, as you don't want to spoil the trip by constantly feeling short of funds. As currency exchange rates can fluctuate often, we ask that you refer to the following website for daily exchange rates: www.xe.com
-
Do I Need Any Vaccinations?Always check with your doctor or a travel clinic to see if you need any medications and/or vaccinations for your trip. Also, check with the CDC for the most current advisories. You may consider obtaining prescription medication for Malaria and Traveler's Diarrhea. Regarding Yellow Fever - if you're traveling from a country where yellow fever is widespread, you'll need a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Botswana. (North America is not one of those restricted countries.)
-
How Physically Demanding is This Trip?IMPORTANT NOTES: This tour is only appropriate for those who can walk independently without an assistive device. Unfortunately, we cannot make accommodations or assist with any mobility challenges. There is moderate walking over uneven terrain, surfaces, sand, and possibly some stairs, as well as sitting for long periods of time. You may have to carry your own luggage at times. This is not a particularly physically demanding journey; however, traveling can be difficult, with long distances traveled and poor road conditions at times.

Is Airfare Included in the Price?Airfare is not included.

Is Airfare Included in the price? Our tour begins in Glasgow (airport code GLA) and ends in Edinburgh (EDI). Airfare is not included.
